Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas play a married couple entangled in a twisted game of resentment in Deep Water, now streaming on Hulu
Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas are playing crooked games with each other in Deep Water — and some critics are then for it.
Grounded on Patricia Highsmith's 1957 novel, the erogenous suspenser stars Affleck as Vic and de Armas as his woman Melinda, who seeks out adulterous affairs and dangles her suitors in front of her hubby's face. Vic becomes decreasingly happy, leading to twists and turns that flip their marriage upside down.
Firstly intended to hit theaters, Deep Water debuted on Hulu Friday, and critics are substantially mixed on the movie, which is what brought the two leads together in real life Affleck, 49, and de Armas, 33, dated from 2019 until their bifurcation in January 2021.
In her review for The Wall Street Journal, Amy Nicholson called the film a" spitefully funny potboiler about coitus, gossip and insincerity"with" chilly blue cinematography and coldly erogenous score."
